Gramatyka: Forget to do vs. forget doing

Kilka tygodni temu wspomniałem, że istnieje grupa czasowników, które zmieniają znaczenie wypowiedzi w zależności od tego, czy użyjemy po nich bezokolicznika czy formy gerundialnej. Zacznijmy od przykładów, aby spróbować samodzielnie dostrzec różnicę przy stosowaniu różnych form po czasowniku forget.

I forgot to lock my office door and someone came in and stole my mobile phone.	I forgot locking my office door and came back hurriedly. When I was in the building, I remembered that I had locked the door. My memory is really poor.
She has forgotten to tell him about it and now he is terribly offended.	She has forgotten telling him about it and now she is telling him the same story again. He is a gentleman and he's not going to tell her that she told him about it before.
He forgot to take his medicine in the morning and felt worse at noon.	He forgot taking his medicine in the morning and took it unnecessarily again at noon.

forget to do something - zapomnieć coś zrobić, czyli nie zrobić tego,
forget doing something - zapomnieć, że się coś zrobiło, czyli zrobić to i o tym zapomnieć.

Może też Wam przydać się popularne wyrażenie will never forget doing:

I will never forget meeting her for the first time.
Nigdy nie zapomnę chwili, gdy spotkałem ją po raz pierwszy.
